In this session, we explore how EdTech can be scaled to solve inequalities in education, both in the Global South and North.

Talent for the Impact Economy

Esade Center for Social Impact

As the global economy shifts toward a more sustainable model, there is greater need for business leaders equipped to understand and manage the social and environmental as well as economic impacts of business. At the same time, young people are increasingly interested in developing careers where their daily job has a positive impact on society. While these trends are aligned, organizations and young people both face challenges around matching talent supply and demand and in working together effectively.

The Esade Center for Social Impact, Essec Business School and Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship University of Oxford, will ignite discussion about these challenges and possible solutions in this session, drawing from their experience preparing students to be effective social impact leaders and connecting them with relevant career opportunities. As part of the discussion, they will share pioneering approaches they use to foster relevant skills and values.

Youth Empowerment

There are 1.2 billion young people aged 15 to 24 years across the globe - 16 % of the global population. Youth development, in particular through education and employment, is one of the pressing challenges – and opportunities – of our times. Empowering young people is crucial to achieve just, green and inclusive societies.

During this session we will share insights and innovative solutions that can address funding gaps in the area of youth empowerment – in particular fighting inequalities in education, training and skills for youth job readiness, support to young social entrepreneurs, supporting youth engagement for a sustainable and inclusive transition. We aim to gather an emerging community of practice and identify opportunities for collaboration and effective mobilisation of resources, with the end goal of launching collective and systemic solutions.

Designing the path to 2030

JA Europe

The skills gap between education and employment has widened to a canyon, while underserved communities are home to a greater share of the global youth population. To reverse both trends and reach true societal impact, JA’s strategic focus is to mobilise resources to support economic opportunities for all young Europeans so they have the skillset and mindset to succeed and build thriving communities wherever they are. Our interactive session gathers JA youth as well as key youth empowerment stakeholders from the private and public sectors. We’ll hear directly from youth involved in innovative and successful pilot initiatives, and together design a path to 2030 where the huge and diverse talent pool of young Europeans will be matched to the employment and entrepreneurship opportunities available in the digital economy.
